Sheep/ Goat Rearing

Facilities

  • Existing 10 sheep/goats of the selected member will be considered as beneficiary's contribution and a unit of 21 (20+1) will be established by providing 10 sheep/goats and 01 high quality ram/buck.
  • Veterinary services and vaccination will be provided by federation. Subsidized insurance of goat unit will be provide under NLM Scheme, in which healthy livestock will be provided in lieu of the insured dead livestock.
  • Veterinary services and Insurance for all other animals available with the member will be offered by federation. The amount of insurance premium will be borne by the member beneficiary.
  • Under the scheme, the member will also be provided financial assistance for the shed strengthening.
  • Paravet of the Federation will provide first-aid facilities to livestock at regular intervals at the doorstep of the member beneficiary and the weight of sheep/goats will also be recorded.
  • In case of emergency situations, facilities for treatment of all the animals available with the member beneficiary etc. will also be provided by the veterinarian of the federation.
  • All the above services will be made available to the member beneficiary, on which the federation will spend approximately Rs.1.09 lakh (Rupees one lakh nine thousand only) per unit
  • Under the scheme, there will be Tripartite Contractual Farming agreement between the Federation, Society and the beneficiary, under which all the livestock of the established sheep/goat unit and their progeny will remain part of the contract. The member can sell them to the federation or with the permission of the federation.

Minimum Eligibility Of The Scheme :

The following conditions are mandatory to join the project and take benefits of the project-

  • Only sheep / goat farmers of Uttarakhand state can be a member of this scheme.
  • The member must have a minimum of 10 goats/sheep.
  • The farmer must be a member of the local primary sheep goat farmer cooperative society.
  • Member must be registered with Uttarakhand Sheep, Goat and Wool Development Board.
