Individual Dairy Farm Units (3 & 5 Cattle Units)

To give impetus to the dairy development programs in the state of Uttarakhand and to encourage the acceptance of animal husbandry and commercial milk production, the milk producer members associated with the milk cooperatives under the "Central Sector Integrated Scheme on Agricultural Cooperation" funded by the National Cooperative Development Corporation. Loans and grants are being provided for establishment of 03 and 05 milch animal units.

    The brief details of the scheme are as follows-

  • All the 13 districts of the state are under the scope of the scheme, in which the milk producer members of the milk cooperative societies will be benefited. The person who is currently not a member of the milk cooperative society and is willing to take advantage of the scheme, there is a provision to provide them the benefits of the scheme by making them a member of the society
  • Under the scheme, a target of 5300 units of 03 and 05 milch animals is defined.
  • Under the scheme, unit cost is predefined for 03 milch animals as Rs 2.465 lakh and for 05 milch animals as Rs 4.0725 lakh.
  • For both 03 and 05 milch animals unit, 65 percent of the unit cost is loan, 10 percent is beneficiary share and the remaining 25 percent is NCDC and state govt. grant.

  • Insurance of milch animals will also be provided under the scheme, as well as assistance will also be provided for transportation of milch animals, milk can and construction of cattle shed. Provision of funds for this purpose is included in the unit cost.
  • The selection of the beneficiaries under the scheme will be done by arranging a meeting at the respective milk society level. The beneficiary to provide the application on the prescribed format to the District Co-operative Bank for approval.
  • After the acceptance of the application form, the beneficiary should buy the milch animal from outside the state. So that livestock population of the state can be increased.
  • To ensure animal purchase, a dairy committee has been constituted at the district level in which the beneficiary will also be a member. After satisfaction of the beneficiary, the purchase of milch animal will be done by the committee.
  • Amount to be paid against animal purchased will be done directly into the seller’s account through RTGS.
  • The milk produced from milch animals purchased under the scheme will be made available by the beneficiary to the concerned milk society and monthly installment will be deducted from the price of milk provided by the beneficiary to the milk society.
