Input Supply to Primary Cooperative Societies (Dugdh Utpadak Sewa Kendra)

Under the scheme, to provide technical input facilities to the milk producers of milk cooperative societies at their doorstep, Aanchal Dugdh Utpadak Sewa Kendra will be established. Availability of various technical facilities like balanced Cattle feed, Compact feed block, Silage, and General veterinary medicine will be ensured through Aanchal Dugdh Utpadak Sewa Kendra. For the operation of Aanchal Dugdh Utpadak Sewa Kendra, funds will be provided in multiples of Rs. 1.0 lakh under the NCDC scheme.

There are a total of 4000 milk cooperative societies in the state of which 2766 are active milk cooperative societies at present. fluctuations based on seasonality, availability of fodder, and other inputs. The cooperative initiatives mentioned in this report are meant to support the farmers to better prices by creating forward linkages that will ensure better prices for the farmers in general. Besides the associated farmers will also be provided with subsidized milch animals, fodder, and vet services. Cooperative dairy farming revival will ensure better control over the quality of milk, processing, and distribution of milk and milk products for the state. The silver lining will be a distribution of incremental profits to milch farmers.

PROBLEMS

The challenges faced by milk unions regarding input services:

• Delayed supply of materials & services.
• Lack of working capital of DUSS.
• Improper input supplies at Hilly Areas
• Limited Availability of input services under a one-stop solution.
• Lack of awareness among milk pourers about balanced feeding practices.
• Reduction of milk pourers from societies due to poor input services.

SOLUTION

To eliminate the above constraints in input services, the concept of Dugdh Utpadak Seva Kendra (DUSK) was introduced through the NCDC scheme. Dugdh Utpadak Sewa Kendra is an input supply center in the village itself which covers approximately 10-12 milk societies and approx. 200 milk pourers of that milk procurement route. It was developed as a single-window solution for all animal-related services. There is a provision to add further materials and services as per the demand of milk producers.

SOLUTION

Post operationalization of the DUSK, that were covering milk routes, the outcomes are quite encouraging and are listed below-

• The overall milk volume increased by more than 25% in comparison to last year.
• Improvement in cattle feed consumption by 70%.
• Bhusa Bheli consumption has also been improved by 138%.
• The delivery timings and quality of input materials have been improved.
• The milk producer has more choices in terms of cattle feeds.
• The productivity of animals has also been improved.
• A better integration of various supporting schemes is achieved through DUSK.
• DUSK has also developed as an employment generation tool for milk producers.
• Per month income from a single DUSK is more than Rs. 10,000.
